If you type the search term "screenplays" into the search engine over Q&A's you'll come up with 8 or 9 related questions, including a question distinguishing the 3 or 4 forms that Mr. McKee discuss in this response. Its very helpful for putting this Q&A in even broader context.

Thank you very, very much for this. This was the question I sent in via email and this not only clarified my vague intuitions, but you added the key insight that I've encapsulated in the header. That one insight, btw, makes an annual subscription to Storylogue worth it (a hint to your customers.)
