I believe Lucas was documenting how in his teen years in California guys used cars to impress girls. so a writer of their own version of American Graffiti would document whatever it was that guys used to impress girls when they were a teenager. (something tells me it’s not cars anymore).

I was watching this movie this morning! Thanks for answering and it was really cool hearing your thoughts on it.

I decided to set the film in June of 2001 around a group of teenagers leaving middle school.
