there are at least three easy ways of creating a character:
1. just duct tape together stock characters from films you saw as a kid, as was done for Super8.
2. just write about your own life or your friend’s life, as is done by the worst of the Sundance and rom-com writers.
3. just follow around one of those amok characters who are constantly running around inside your own head, as was done by Woody Allen in his great films of the last century. (the drawback of this technique is you first gotta have a bunch of amok characters constantly running around in your head).

I suppose Jesus (that wasn't his real name) must be the most talked about character in the whole world. Yet no one knows what kind of carpenter he was nor what was his primary unconscious desire other than expressed in his conscious desire to save people from themselves.
A template for a comic character perhaps?
